Odyssey 1.15 released for MorphOS

Yet again! The Fabien guy in France have released another version of Odyssey for MorphOS. Changing its name from Origyn Web Browser to Odyssey doesn’t matter for the version number as 1.15 follows from its previous name.

Changes:

Here are the changes:
- Updated to WebKit r98566 (October 2011).
- Tabs are now detachable when dropped outside of the window. They can also be
attached to another existing window by dropping them on the target window
webview/tab group.
- Added an new autoscroll mode when doubleclicking middle mouse button (click
button again to abort).
- Added GETTITLE REXX command.
- Updated a couple useragents.
- Improved dragimage for selected text. It now looks 1:1 like selected content.
- Make sure search suggestion poplist is closed when the search string is validated.
- Made AltGr key work in googledocs.
- Applied a patch to prevent mydrive.ch from hanging when uploading.
- Threading layer reworked so that a task uses only one signal for all its child threads. It avoids “out of exec signal” situations that prevented
from running more than 3-4 mediaplayer instances at the same time.
- Restore video fullpage/overlay mode after switching a webview to fullscreen/window mode.
- Hide panels when switching a webview to fullscreen mode and restore state when switching back.
- Make sure all media elements instances are disposed when closing a webview (WebKit would sometimes forget some).
- When running out of memory, the “death requester” now also gives the choice between retrying the allocation (giving a chance to free some memory from another application) or attempting to quit the application (it might just fail!).
- Fixed YouTube HTML5 fullscreen mode (Youtube_Fullscreen_Fix.js).
- Updated youtube.js.

MorphOS 3 in December

MorphOS is a very nice Amiga-like operating system that once upon a time could have become what is today known as AmigaOS.

Having actually tried a previous version of MorphOS I can say that it is an insanely fast, very, very slick improved Workbench on stereoids, just as with AmigaOS4.1 it has a compatibility layer with system friendly classic 68k applications and many ported applications known from the Amiga world.

MorphOS is constantly under development and lately the Amiga world got shocked by the incredible news of MorphOS running on the G4 Mac mini, judging by this thread at amiga.org initiated by Piru, world famous for creating short (as in very short) posts consisting of the word “no”, Powerbook G4 seems like the next step for MorphOS – the closest to a proper Amiga notebook the Amiga world will have.

But as usual in Amiga world, there is no definitive anwser, and no official roadmap when, where, how. But at least there is a video showing it off, maybe next year?

New era for Amiga?

New era for Amiga?

New AmigaOne X1000, New Amiga Notebook and New MorphOS version for PowerBook laptops +++ Can this underground machine make a comeback? I think so, but it needs economic support and it needs developers to comeback. The users have kept the Amigascene alive since Commodore demise. Now its time to promote and get Amiga back on track. Its simply one of the best made products in the world. Now its time to get back people to something that does work!
